RE: Problem with dog travelling in vehicle

Oscar was a nervous traveler, and then I started letting him sit on my lap. He got better, and now rides in the back seat very happily. I think he just didn't like being in the back seat all by himself. Felix was terrified of the car. We got him used to it by chain-feeding him treats while we drove around the block. We tried one of those seat belt things and put him in the back seat, but he'd chewed through it before I got out of the parking lot. Since the treat trip, he LOVES to ride in the car! Anyway, have you tried letting your dog sleep in your lap, or giving treats as the car is moving? I hope something works out for you!

RE: Best route from Oregon to Wisconsin

You can take either I-90 or I-94. I personally prefer I-94, which goes through North Dakota. IMHO, Eastern North Dakota is more scenic than Eastern South Dakota. I-94 will take you through the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, then it heads South towards Madison. You don't say when you're traveling. If it's around Labor Day, you might want to avoid the Twin Cities because of the crowds and traffic associated with the Republican National Convention.

RE: fiber tumors????

I had one about 30 years ago. The doctor went and found his heaviest medical book and wapped my wrist with it. No more cyst, but it hurt when it popped. I don't know if that's currently the approved method of treatment, though.

RE: XM Radio questions??

I can't answer all you questions, but I urge caution with E-Bay. We had an XM receiver stolen, and reported it to XM. If someone tries to register that serial number with XM, they will not issue a contract. So, if you do buy one on E-Bay, make sure it's not a stolen unit! BTW: We love our XM!! I don't like the remote control, but DH uses it all the time.

RE: Better scenery IA or WI/MN

If you're looking for scenery, go north to Minneapolis and take I-94. It's much more scenic than I-90! One of the rest stops is the Visitor's Center for Teddy Roosevelt National Park, and it's well worth the stop. Of course you'll have to head south at some point to get down to Sioux Falls.

Seattle to Jackson, Wy??

What's the best (that is, least exciting, er, mountainous) route to get from Seattle to Jackson, Wyoming? DD is having surgery in Seattle, and after we get her stabilized, we want to go to Jackson to visit DS for a couple of days before heading back to Wisconsin. Edited to add we will either be driving a front-wheel drive Audi or a 4WD Trailblazer.

RE: Best Route from Yellowstone??

Another recommendation for going through Cody and then south to I-90, then take I-39 in Southern Wisconsin down to I-80. You'll miss Chicago traffic that way.

RE: Who has had an unusual European car?

We had a couple of Saab 96 front wheel cars with V-4 engines. They were 4-speed on the steering column, which was a little difficult to get used to. They were great in snow!

RE: What's a real comfortable

Audi A3! Plenty of power, plenty of luxury, easy on the gas. Can't ask for more than that! If you want a bigger wagon, the A4 would be a great choice. DS has the all-wheel-drive version, and says it performs better than their Jeep Wrangler in Jackson, Wyoming winters.

RE: Wedding gifts

Thank you so much for your comments!! I love the basket idea! The bride is a relative I see maybe once a year, so I don't know her that well. That does give me some ideas, though!!

Wedding gifts

Here's another wedding post! I've been invited to a bridal shower. The bride is registered at a couple of places, and most of the things she wants are about $100!! I feel like I've been living under a rock for the past few decades! The bridal shower is at a restaurant in a touristy town. I'm from the era when showers were held in a friend of the bride's home. So, is there a rule of thumb regarding how much you pay for shower gifts? For wedding gifts????

RE: Concert at High School Last Night

That's fantastic!!! You should be so proud!! It brings back memories of sitting in the audience, willing each note my kid played to be the correct one, and trying not to cringe when s/he hit a wrong note, played too fast or forgot to pause. It was an exciting experience as a parent, and for the kids, it was very empowering. Enjoy, it is over all too quickly!!!

RE: 6 y.o. DD broke her arm at school ! No help from staff !

Your poor daughter! How is she feeling now? I hope she will be able to put this behind her and get on with her school work. I can't imagine how embarrassed she must have been to be yelled at when she was hurting. My heart goes out to her. Hopefully, her teacher and the rest of the school staff can learn something from this, and not make any other injured children suffer through something like that again. Please give your daughter a big hug and tell her how brave she is!
